This story got a reaction from then-candidate Peter Kent by way of a letter to the editor. He wrote:

You’ve been fed a bit of a line on the subway funding. Not a lot of balance in the story.

When a project of this magnitude is created, there are compliance requirements that must be met by municipal and provincial partners.

Given Toronto’s fiscal mismanagement and lack of transparency, Ottawa is quite within its rights to get the guarantees that taxpayer dollars will be spent responsibly.

With respect, the lead seems to be buried in the fourth paragraph: “Close to $700 million … would not be made available until several conditions were met.”

The conditions were not trivial. They deserve, at least, coverage equal to the uninformed opining of Maurizio Bevilacqua and Susan Kadis, not to mention Sandra Yeung Racco.

I’d suggest a phone call to Mayor Linda Jackson would give you a more accurate perspective of where we are with this worthy project.

And, perhaps, you can then properly point accusing fingers at the folks responsible for the compliance delays.

All the best.

Peter Kent, Thornhill federal Conservative candidate

Yup, legendary journalist Peter Kent telling me I buried the lead. There's no way to wear that other than proudly as a badge of honour.

I only recently found out that “2 Hot Blondes” was a hair salon. Quite honestly, for the last 5-6 years I have lived in Thornhill/North York area, I always thought it was an adult video store.
